- Smoke alarms should work. We can test them by pushing the test button, and a small chirp sound should chirp.
- Smoke alarms are used to detect smoke. They are always sniffing for us because when we sleep, we can't smell anything.
- Smoke alarms should be in these rooms: every bedroom, the hall way, the lounge, the garage and the dining room. You probably don't want one in the kitchen because burnt toast can set them off!
- Fire is very dangerous. If we find lighters or matches, we should give them to an adult who should put them somewhere high up so little kids can't get them.
- Smoke is part of the fire. It is the part that can damage our lungs and stop us from breathing.
- If there is a house fire, don't try put it out yourself. Close the door of the room and walk outside safely.
- Get down, get low, get out fast. Meet at our safe meeting place (which should be the letterbox)
- Call 111 to order a fire truck.
Fireman Matt gave our teacher some magazines. We all took home a magazine which has important information about Fire Safety. We know to watch the DVD with our family because it is important that everyone in the house knows how to be Firewise.
What else did we learn from Fireman Matt? Post a comment below!
